Blacksburg, VA – eBroselow, a medication safety technology firm and Informs, a leader in mobile computing products and logistics have teamed up to prevent acute medication errors in hospitals. eBroselow today announced its partnership with Informs to distribute and support its newest medication safety tool, called SafeDose ScanTM.
“Our goal is to make this handheld tool a national standard for medical emergency situations and for second checks,” said Dr. James Broselow, founder of eBroselow and inventor of the Broselow Pediatric Emergency TapeTM and Broselow ColorCode CartsTM. “With Informs’ help, we can make it available to medical transport teams, hospitals, and to medical professionals across the country.”
eBroselow’s new SafeDose Scan™ transforms the National Drug Code barcode on acute medications into instant critical knowledge for accurately dosing, preparing and administering medication for pediatric and adult patients. It was developed through the collaboration of eBroselow and Honeywell, a technology manufacturing company.
Informs, a Honeywell reseller, will distribute the tool using its customized solutions for managing and supporting healthcare products. This is the first partnership between Informs and eBroselow.
“Our shared goal is patient safety and reducing medical errors,” said Melissa Freas, Informs, Inc.’s senior healthcare account representative. “We are proud to distribute a product that provides caregivers with critical medication administration information while ensuring that patients receive proper doses based on indication.”
SafeDose Scan was launched shortly after last month’s Air Medical Transport Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is available as a handheld computer for $2,495 and as a “healthcare sled” for the Apple iPod Touch and iPhone for $1,795. Each product comes with a one-year license to eBroselow’s mobile software, which is updated regularly.
eBroselow LLC, headquartered in Blacksburg, Virginia, is dedicated to developing a simple, safe, and effective international standard for acute drug administration. Co-founded by Drs.
